RMI Launches Second Inter-College Sports gala with National Players in Attendance
In midst of the excitement and fervor, Rehman Medical Institute’s (RMI) directorate of sports launched its second inter-college sports competition on Monday.
National-level stars like Muhammad Haris mingled with enthusiastic students, setting the stage for a thrilling week of competition in cricket, Futsal, basketball, badminton, and more.
Dean Health Science Colleges, RMI, Dr. Muhammad Bin Afsar Jan, beaming with pride, spoke of the many talented athletes who have blossomed from these events, praising their dedication and the positive impact they have on the institute’s reputation. He extended his heartfelt thanks to the RMI management for their support and everyone who contributed to the event’s success.
Chief Guest of the event Secretary Sports and Youth Affair, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Matiullah Khan, could not hide his admiration for RMI’s commitment to nurturing future doctors while also prioritizing physical activity. He lauded the meticulous organization and highlighted his department’s ongoing efforts to promote sports and youth development throughout the year. Khan expressed his confidence that RMI would continue to excel, not only in academics but also in producing exceptional athletes. He encouraged the students to embrace sports as a lifelong passion, a sentiment that resonated throughout the ceremony.
RMI CEO, Shafique Ur Rehman, took a moment to share a startling statistic –40% Pakistani children grapple with obesity. He said that sports are the perfect antidote to this concerning trend, urging everyone to prioritize their health and well-being. Rehman spoke passionately about the dangers of a sedentary lifestyle and the importance of finding a healthy balance in life.
He then discussed the role of sports in mental health, highlighting its therapeutic benefits and stressing the need for consistency. Rehman concluded by reminding everyone that health is our greatest treasure, leaving a lasting impression with the famous quote, “I wish I hadn’t worked so hard,” a powerful reminder to prioritize both physical and mental well-being.
